Tissue research

BPC-157

Not approvedAnimal research

Not approved; on the WADA Prohibited List. Compounding status under FDA review (2026)

In simple words: A lab-made peptide based on a stomach protein, popular online for healing but tested almost only in animals.

How it works

In animal studies it appears to promote blood-vessel growth and tissue repair in tendons, muscles and the gut.

Targets: Not established in humans · Class: Synthetic pentadecapeptide

Uses, latest studies & pairings

Typically used for

  • Marketed for tendon, ligament and muscle injuries, gut problems (ulcers, colitis) and faster recovery.
  • Evidence is almost all from rats; it is banned in tested sport (WADA).

Commonly paired with

  • TB-500 (the “Wolverine stack”) and the GLOW or KLOW blends. No combination has been studied in people.
  • Its blood-vessel-growth effect is the reason for caution with any cancer history.

Latest studies & news

  1. Jul 2026

An FDA advisory committee voted 8–6 to recommend letting pharmacies compound BPC-157 for ulcerative colitis, even though FDA staff said there was a lack of evidence it works. This is not binding; the FDA hasn't made a final decision.

  2. 2025

A systematic review (HSS Journal) found 36 studies, of which 35 were in animals or cells and only 1 in people.

  3. 2025

A tiny IV safety pilot in 2 people was published. That's far too small to judge safety, and there are still no good-quality human trials.

What the research shows

Human clinical evidence

Human
  • There are no good-quality human trials; only a few small, uncontrolled reports exist.

Animal research

Animal
  • Many rodent studies report faster healing of tendons, ligaments, muscle and gut injuries.

Animal and lab results suggest what might happen; they don't prove an effect in people.

Safety & what to watch

  • Human safety is unknown. The FDA earlier listed it among compounding substances with possible safety risks; in July 2026 an advisory panel voted to allow compounding for ulcerative colitis over FDA staff objections, but no final decision has been made. It is on the WADA Prohibited List.
  • Because it promotes blood-vessel growth, people with a history of cancer should be especially cautious.

Amounts

No dose is given for unapproved substances. If you are considering it, discuss it with a licensed clinician who knows your history and bloodwork.
